Dealing with the Weight

There is so much to be happy about on a daily basis, so many moments that should make us proud, and yet we are constantly distracted by those emotions that weigh us down. The general fatigue that we are all feeling is palpable. It is exhausting to be constantly dealing with the weight of it all.

Even writing this out I find myself being pulled into the vortex. But it doesn’t have to be that way. Especially if we can just take a step back and own the moment. Yes, this moment in history is daunting. But everyday, everywhere around the world, people are finding their way through, creating new paradigms and changes in their own lifestyles that are truly beneficial.

Never before in history has managing something like this been so, for lack of a better word, easy. Ordering online and working from home would have been unthinkable, even twenty years ago. Collaboration through technology has never been more convenient. And our reach as creatives has never been so widely global.

Dealing with the weight should be easy then, right? I am certainly not making that argument. We have gone through and are continuing to go through a lot. But every now and then, through the dense fog of loss, it’s nice to focus on what we have gained.

And when we are out the other side of this, we need to focus on holding on to all of those things that actually made our lives, or careers, and our work-life balance better. We need to make this experience meaningful and hold on to those small joys it taught us.

Dealing with the weight is manageable if we do something about it.
