With all of the pressures of the modern world, it is important to be able to think about time and how you are using it. Or how is it using you, which is equally likely.
With n a world filled with modern conveniences and communication, it is incredible how much of our time is taking up by notifications, emails, chats, online meetings, office beauraucracy, schedules, calendars, to-do lists, to-do lists to make the to-do list, in person meetings, and on and on. When we reward ourselves with time, how do we choose to do it?
Often, with more if the same. Notifications on the latest YouTube video, or Tik Tok, or chat with your friends. We invest so much time into the screens that surround us we rarely stop to consider the value of the investment.
What do we actually get for staying on top of the latest social media trend? Is our life really improved by watching another 5-minute craft video? Or playing another three hours of Call of Duty? There is little to no personal gain. Just donut holes for our time.
That’s not to say distractions are the end of productivity, but they are the roadblock. It’s hard for us to focus through the chaos, get the job done, and then partake.
Partake, not overindulge. Not ice cream every night. Sometimes we need to sneak some vegetables in there, like reading a good book, or going for a walk. Thinking about time gives you power over it.
